Mount Hood is Oregon's highest point at 11,249 feet and a prominent stratovolcano in the Cascade Range. History
Named after British Admiral Samuel Hood by William Broughton in 1792, Mount Hood has been climbed since 1845. The mountain is considered potentially active, though its last major eruption was in the 1790s. It's one of Oregon's most recognizable landmarks and a major recreation destination.
