Mount Eisenhower
#11About Mount Eisenhower
Mount Eisenhower reaches 4,780 feet and features one of the most distinctive bare summits in the Presidential Range. The mountain offers outstanding 360-degree views with minimal effort compared to higher Presidential peaks. The summit dome is completely above treeline, providing spectacular vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. On clear days, hikers can see the entire Presidential Range stretched out to the north.
History
Originally called Mount Pleasant, the peak was renamed in 1972 after President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The mountain has been a popular hiking destination since the 1800s, with the first trail cut in 1845. The Edmands Path, built by J. Rayner Edmands between 1892-1899, is renowned for its excellent construction and gentle grade, making it one of the finest hiking trails in the White Mountains.
