Mount Adams is the second highest peak in the Northeast at 5,774 feet. Known for its multiple subsidiary peaks including Sam Adams, Abigail Adams, and John Quincy Adams, the mountain offers some of the most rugged and challenging terrain in the White Mountains. The summit provides spectacular 360-degree views and is home to unique alpine vegetation.
History
Named after President John Adams, Mount Adams was first ascended in 1820. The mountain's complex network of trails, including the famous King Ravine Trail, has made it a favorite among experienced hikers. The Randolph Mountain Club maintains several trails and the Gray Knob cabin near the summit, which has provided shelter to hikers since the early 1900s.
