Torreys Peak rises to 14,272 feet (4,350 m) on the Continental Divide, typically climbed in conjunction with Grays Peak via a scenic ridge traverse. Named after botanist John Torrey, the peak offers relatively easy access from I-70 and features well-established trails. The summit provides spectacular views of the Continental Divide and surrounding Front Range peaks.
History
Named in 1861 after botanist John Torrey, the peak forms a classic combination with neighboring Grays Peak. The area has a rich mining history, and the remains of old mining operations can still be seen along the approach routes.
