Snowmass Mountain stands at 14,105 feet (4,299 m) as one of the more remote Elk Mountain 14ers. The peak features the last remaining glacier in Colorado's Elk Mountains. Multiple routes exist, all requiring backpacking and offering true wilderness experiences in spectacular alpine terrain.
History
Named for the massive snowfields that cover much of the mountain year-round, Snowmass is known for its remoteness and the Snowmass Lake approach, one of Colorado's most scenic alpine basins.
